About Us (Our Company Profile)
Eller Computer Services is a sole proprietorship, owned and operated by Enten
Eller. Enten earned his
bachelor's degree in Physics and Mathematics summa cum laude, and then served
Alternative Service for several years. While serving in the Chicago area, Enten
started the computer consultation business almost unintentionally in 1984, when a
supervisor noticed him make corrections to a database into which he was assigned
data entry as a volunteer. As a result, his first job was some custom
programming to that database, and training of the other users; the next job was
training staff in another department how to use the software program they had, as well as
computer use in general (PCs were still pretty new back then!). The demand
for troubleshooting and technical teaching grew quickly just by word of mouth,
and helping others purchase good hardware at reduced prices soon followed . . . and Eller Computer Services was off and
running!
In addition to the computer consulting, Enten has served as a pastor for a number of
years as an ordained minister with the Church of
the Brethren, and so has
a better understanding of faith-based communities and their needs than
many other computer professionals. Additionally, as a seasoned
pastor, he has the ability to communicate well with people from all walks of
life .
. . meaning that he can both listen, as well as to make difficult technical
explanations understandable. Additionally, Enten served for a time
as the Executive Director of the Mediation Services of Tippecanoe County,
Inc., a small non-profit community service agency in Lafayette, Indiana,
and so has much empathy for those types of organizations as well.
Enten has also served as a consultant for the New Sudan Council of Churches and
the All Africa Conference of Churches, as well as preparing laptops for the work
of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria. Together, these experiences enable Eller Computer Services to successfully
serve not only individuals and smaller businesses, but also to serve non-profit groups that often lack the finances to support a large computer
budget, as well as people wanting dependable systems to take abroad.
Enten, and his wife Mary, currently live in
Palmyra, Pennsylvania, from where Enten pastors two small Churches of the Brethren, one in Ambler, PA--the Ambler Church of the Brethren--and the other a completely online congregation--the Living Stream Church of the Brethren.
